If the medium is on the edge (meaning no base color next to it), I try to find a medium-base color instead, and treat the outline like clothes. For the medium, I find a good spot between the base and highlight, and have the outline usually the same shade, but sometimes it goes lighter or darker. For the highlight, I tint the base to a reasonable tone, and have the highlight notably lighter. For the base, I have it at what would seem to be the true color of the hair, and keep the outline locked. Then, for the outline, I make it the same color as the shaded part, but with a bit more color (slightly to the right).įor clothes, I keep the outline at a shade between the base color and the shaded color.įor hair, I use a base color, a highlight, and then a medium. ![]() This is really helpful and cool!)įor the skin, if I'm doing a cosplay of a real person (Bo Burnham for example), I stick between scarlet and mango, and simply tint (and sometimes slightly darken) until it looks right.
